Dem Scheme EXPOSED: “Sham” Candidate Disqualified in Alaska Senate Race to Confuse Voters
A top Alaska election official has disqualified a Republican challenger with the same name as incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan from the primary ballot, citing concerns that the campaign was intentionally designed to confuse voters. Carol Beecher, Director of the Division of Elections, ruled that Dan J. Sullivan’s candidacy was “filed with a purpose to confuse or mislead and to thereby compromise the ballot’s fairness or neutrality.” The disqualified candidate, a retired schoolteacher with no prior Republican affiliation, can appeal the decision.
The Republican Party has fiercely opposed Dan J. Sullivan’s entry into the race, arguing that his last-minute filing was a “sham” orchestrated by Democrats to split the vote and confuse Alaskans in the crucial battleground state. Under Alaska’s ranked-choice voting system, the presence of two candidates with similar names could have potentially allowed both to advance to the general election.
