What She Actually Did

Claire adopted a dietary approach based on reducing refined carbohydrates and increasing healthy fats and protein — a modern, less extreme version of the metabolic approaches that have existed in medical literature since the 1970s. She eliminated bread, pasta, rice, sugar, and processed foods.




She added avocados, olive oil, fatty fish, nuts, eggs, and generous amounts of non-starchy vegetables. She did not count calories. She did not exercise obsessively. She made a consistent, significant change to what she ate and maintained it.
