Jim Acosta’s Berlin Wall Blunder: Mocked Mercilessly for Trump Kennedy Center Name Removal Meltdown

The renaming of the performing arts complex to the “Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts” in December 2025 had previously sparked considerable backlash from the political left, leading to a lawsuit by a Democratic congresswoman. A federal judge ultimately ruled that the center’s original name, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, must be reinstated.

Acosta, having retired to bed before the actual removal, was alerted by his producer. He then rushed to the scene, lamenting that the work occurred in the “dead of the night” and that a tarp was erected to shield Trump from the “humiliation” of the event being filmed. He launched into a lengthy tirade, accusing Trump of “illegally and obnoxiously” slapping his name on the building and comparing the former president’s behavior to a “small child [who] doesn’t wanna give his toy away.” The “newly minted social media influencer” was subsequently subjected to relentless mockery online, with X users comparing his performance to a lone individual watching the fall of the Berlin Wall and questioning the priorities of someone dedicating an entire day to such an event.
