“8647” Message on National Mall Sparks Federal Investigation Amid Rising Trump Security Concerns
Law enforcement officials are investigating a mysterious “8647” message discovered etched into the grass of Washington D.C.’s National Mall. The incident has heightened concerns for President Trump’s security, as federal authorities remain on heightened alert over political threats and violence. The Interior Department condemned the act as “deranged vandalism” and vowed to hold those responsible accountable, stating that any threat against the President is taken “very seriously.” The U.S. Park Police responded to the scene and collected grass samples for examination.
The number “8647” is significant as “86” is commonly understood in the restaurant industry as a term to remove or refuse service, while “47” is widely interpreted as a reference to Trump as the 47th president. This interpretation has led the administration to view such messages as threatening. This comes after a previous incident where the Department of Justice charged former FBI Director James Comey over an Instagram post featuring seashells arranged to read “86 47,” which Comey stated was not intended as a threat.
